What's Stage 1 Turbo Tuning?
I can hear you thinking already "Stage 1 Turbo Tuning", does he make those terms up himself or what!? Well actually, sometimes, i do, but describing tuning in certain stages actually isn't uncommon at all.
What i mean by Stage 1 Turbo Tuning can be compared to what most chiptuners do, they can almost always add around 30HP to any turbocharged car (diesels included!) by just reprogramming the stock ECU or adding some sort of piggyback.
This is a trick we can apply to an engine like the 4E-FTE too, and we might not even need to change the ECU or any software settings at all! Wanna know how? Read on!
Under the hood
Now, what these chiptuners really do is basically just raising the boost level by around 0.3 Bar (+- 4 PSI), a trick like this can add up to 30HP to your engine without any danger, or is there?
Example: The 4E-FTE
Very common swap for Starlet's and Corolla's, this 1.3 16V Turbo engine puts out a nice 135HP @ 0.6 Bar (+- 9 PSI).

Turn it up!
Alright then! Let's turn up the boost to 0.6 + 0.3 = 0.9 Bar and we're all done!
